BUSA Championships - Dunkeld, Scotland, 24/03/07
13 SUMBC members headed up to Scotland to face the toughest downhill course any of us had seen before.
Photos and discussion are on the forums.
XC

The XC course consisted of a long (and not very exciting) fireroad climb followed by a singletrack cliffside ridge and then the bottom of the downhill course. The champs competitors did 4 laps and sport and womens champ competitors 2 laps.
Ross did the club proud in the champ race by leading from start to finish, taking the fastest lap and winning his 2nd BUSA gold medal of the year by over 3 minutes.
There were casualties in the XC race too with Rob destroying his front wheel, Loz suffering mechanicals and pain from the DH race (as well as taking very interesting lines) and myself stabbing my face on a branch.
Champs:
Ross - 1st
Rob D - 43rd
Andy - 44th
Loz - 59th
Briony - 7th
Sport:
Matt - 15th
Steve - 49th
Si - 63rd
Dave - 69th

Downhill

The relentless DH course took its toll on all the riders. During practive Rob M. ruled himself out by breaking his wrist and Loz by breaking a spoke. Chris then continued the trend on his first race run by tumbling down the mountain and knocking his head. After stumbling around disorientated for 10 minutes Tom D came and rescued him from the hill while being asked by Chris where his (destroyed) helmet was every 10 seconds. Tom, Si and Kev amazingly survived the course on their hardtails and completed their race runs and Dave put in SUMBCs best performance.
Dave M - 148th
Tom D - 163rd
Simon - 167th
Kev - 174th
Briony - 7th
